Synagogue Menorah from Ma'on in the Southern Hebron Hills
The largest three-dimensional Byzantine-period marble menorah ever discovered was found in the ancient synagogue in Ma'on in the southern Hebron Hills. Based on fragments of the branches, body fragments of two lions, and two lions' heads, the menorah was reconstructed with plaster.
The Ma'on synagogue is one of the few synagogues that existed in the southern part of Palestine during the Byzantine Period.
