Usha
Emperor Hadrian died three years after the fall of Beitar. His successor, Antonius Pius, was a moderate man adhering to Roman traditions. He allowed the sages to assemble in Usha and reinstate the presidency of the Sanhedrin. The right to establish rabbinical courts was also reinstated. The Galilee remained almost entirely Jewish and at peace with the Roman Empire.
Two mikva'ot or Jewish ritual baths, dating back to the 2nd century and kept till the 6th century, were discovered with plastered walls and steps, carved into rock. The mikvaot were near wine and olive oil production facilities, indicating that workers purified themselves in order to produce kosher oil and wine.
