Isaiah 66:14 Hebrew Inscription on the Western Wall of the Temple Mount1

Read while you listen

A Hebrew inscription quoting Isaiah 66:14 can be seen on the Western Wall of the Temple Mount.

"And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones […shall flourish like a herb]"

The inscription echoes the Jewish hopes for redemption during this time, and its most rational dating is based on the assumption that there is a link between the inscription and the letter sent by Jews from Galilee to Egypt in the 5th century during the time Eudocia lived in Jerusalem.

It is assumed that the writer worked under pressure, as he failed to complete the biblical verse.
