Byzantine Emperor Heraclius Retakes the Land of Israel from the Persians and Massacres Jews

In 629 CE, the Byzantine army under Emperor Heraclius briefly reclaimed the Land of Israel and marched triumphantly into Jerusalem on March 21, 630 CE. A massacre of the Jewish population ensued, and Heraclius banished the Jews within a radius of three miles of Jerusalem.
